But now that the tree’s sorted, the fun begins! Decorating the Christmas tree should be an event. Get all the family involved with our top tips for decorating your Christmas tree!

Start With The Christmas Tree Lights

Putting your lights on first is the best way to give depth to your tree’s festive glow. Start from the base of your tree, working your way around the branches from the trunk to the tips and finishing at the top of the tree.

Coordinate Your Baubles

Prepacked bauble sets can be a good way to make sure your tree is co-ordinated. Throwing on a pile of odd baubles you found in the loft is a risky tactic which can leave you with a messy looking tree that’s less than easy on the eyes. Choose two or three bauble colours and stick with them. You can accessorize with the kids’ homemade decs once the bulk of the decorating is done.

Go Big Or Go Home!

Whether you like to top your tree with an angelic figure, glitzy star or statement bauble – make sure you have something to wow at the top of your tree. The decoration you choose for the top should bring everything together and create a focal point from which the rest of your festive masterpiece should flow.

Get The Base-ics Right

When decorating your real Christmas tree, it’s easy to concentrate on the tree itself and forget about your base arrangements. After all, those prezzies need somewhere safe to sit (unrattled, of course) ‘til Christmas morning. Surround the base of your tree in a circular rug that coordinates with the colour of your decorations.

Keep Christmas Safe

Position your tree away from direct heat sources and electrical wires or sockets (always use specialist Christmas tree lights which are designed for indoor use) and always switch lights off at night. This will not only protect you against festive fire hazards but prolong the life of your real Christmas tree by preventing it from drying out too quickly.

Is your Christmas tree up yet? You do know it’s less than 2 weeks ‘til Christmas, don’t you?
