Six funky, festive tree toppers for 2018

Our beautiful Crimbotrees Scottish grown Christmas trees need very little in the way of adornment, but a funky tree topper never goes amiss. We’ve trawled the web to find some fun and quirky alternatives to the angel at the top of your Christmas tree this year.

Animal Magic

Move over unicorns, this year it’s all about the llama. Check out this colourful felt and wood llama from Not on the High Street which also doubles as an egg cosy once the tree comes down. And it can be personalised – which gets the thumbs up from us here at Crimbotrees!

Although we’ve not quite recovered from the trauma of seeing the plight of the baby penguins on the David Attenborough Dynasties series last month (that poor abandoned baby penguin!), we’d love to give this fluffy baby penguin from the Cotswold Trading Co a forever home. Handmade in Nepal from 100% Fairtrade wool and featuring needlepoint detailing, this festive penguin is ready and waiting to take pride of place at the top of your tree this Christmas.

A cute kitten takes on the traditional Christmas tree fairy with this screen-printed, glitter-winged kitty which will brighten up any festive tree. This one’s designed by Chris Ratcliffe of Peckham-based creative collective Garudio Studiage – and they also do a pink-winged pug version – because why not?

Traditional Twists

Tributes to past pop icons including Bowie and the Purple One from Material Gods on Etsy bring a contemporary twist and a bit of popular culture nostalgia to your Christmas – and they do Elvis, Freddie Mercury and other stars of yesteryear too!
If pop’s not your thing, mix the traditional with the modern with a yellow 3D printed retro SuperMario star tree topper to satisfy the geek in your life.

By Royal Appointment

This fun and fabulous hand knitted ‘gold’ crown from Lauren Aston Designs makes a real royal statement and could be the crowning glory of your tree this year. It ’s knitted in beautiful mustard merino yarn and mounted on a gold powder coated stainless steel frame to fix it in place.. They also do Santa hat tree toppers if you don’t feel worthy of a crown…

Some of the best tree decoration happens when you just leave the kids to it, but if you like a bit more control over your festive home, read our guide to creating a beautifully co-ordinated Christmas trees.

We’d love to see your decorated trees – with or without funky toppers – so join us on Facebook and show us your trees!
